Why now?
Healthcare professionals globally have been facing increasingly challenging working conditions in recent decades. These conditions have pushed beyond what is reasonably expected from them. The Covid-19 pandemic has only made the situation worse and highlighted the pressing need to prioritize the well-being of healthcare staff. The continuity of healthcare services is at stake, making it crucial to address this issue immediately.
What's wrong with DSM-V?
Our understanding of mental health is currently based on a biomedical two-dimensional model that cannot capture a holistic view of mental illness and mental wellbeing. As such, due to a broad spectrum of mental health presentations, the current understating of aetiology, screening, diagnosis and interventions is understudied.
Why such a niche target audience?
Healthcare professionals often experience elevated stress due to unique occupational stressors like long hours, sleep deprivation, lack of social support and dealing with death and dying.
Our team is also made up of >70% HCPs and thus can empathise with the problem acutely. We believe we are best positioned to come up with human-centric solution thanks to our diverse and passionate team who have a range of expertise and experience in both clinical & non-clinical fields.
